7/25/2010 Erin Regan/JB Clark Reception

Monday, 26. July 2010

This past Sunday, we celebrated with Erin Regan and JB Clark for their reception at Bellini’s Italian Restaurant in downtown Madison.   It was a wonderful night!  We began with the introduction of the bridal party, followed by a family “sing a long prayer,” which is a long standing family tradition. Adam Shea Photography did a great job, I always enjoy working with Adam.  The pictures below are ours, not his.

We opened the reception dancing portion of the night with a “scavenger hunt” for the bridal party, and then onto the feature dances.  We  had requests from Glenn Miller to Michael Jackson.   Several compliments and requests.  We wish you both nothing but the best!

7/17/2010 Van Ryzin/Daubner Reception

Monday, 19. July 2010

Door County is beautiful in the summertime, and a gorgeous day it was for Jennifer Van Ryzin and John Daubner’s wedding reception in Ellison Bay, WI.

The reception was held on John’s mom’s farm in Ellison Bay, WI, which is just south of Gil’s rock in the northern tip of Door County.   We kicked it off with a variety of tropical beach theme type music which covered everything from Bob Marley to Jimmy Buffett.  It was a casual atmosphere, we did trivia about John and Jen for the table release to the buffet, and followed that with about 30-45 minutes of games for the little one’s after dinner.    We transitioned to the scavenger hunt (a great way to start the night!)  Guests danced throughout the night, with everything from the Train, to I gotta feeling, to CCR., at 10:30 guestd were treated to fireworks, which lit up the sky, along with a bon fire!

What a spectacular night!  Congratulations to both of you as begin a new chapter in your life!

Eldridge/Drees Reception 6/27/2009

Monday, 29. June 2009

On Saturday, June 27th,  Danielle Eldridge & John Drees,  Celebrated
their Wedding Reception at the Elks Lodge in Oshkosh.    This reception came as a referral from Danielle’s sister, Erin, who was married last year.  Thanks for the referral, Erin!

Guests began arriving for cocktails at 5pm, and enjoyed a good mix of
smooth jazz,  continuing through the 6 O’Clock Hour, when
a Buffet was served.

Shortly after 7pm, the kids were invited to take
part in a Scavenger Hunt, which was a huge success!  If you
plan on having a good number of children at your reception, this is a
great way for both young and old to bond, and also works great
for just adults, too!   At 7:30,  the wedding party offered toasts to
the Bride and Groom,  some funny, some very  touching…  Shortly
before 8,  The reception began, with a good mix of 50’s & 60’s oldies,  the
dance floor came alive almost immediately!  at about 8:15,  we got the
Grand March underway,  “September”  by Earth Wind & Fire was the song
that brought couples out to the floor, followed by Bryan Adams’
“Everything I Do”    Danielle & John chose “When You Know” by Shawn
Colvin  for their First Dance Song,  that was followed up by
“Cinderella”  by Steven Curtis Chapman,  for the Father/Daughter
Dance..   I then invited all married couples out to the floor to join
the Bride & Groom for Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight”  at least 20
couples  joined John & Danielle.    I then had guests  applaud
them and wished them 20 years of wedded bliss,  one year for every
couple on the floor with them!

We followed that up with the Bouquet Toss,  and played Beyonce’s  “All The Single Ladies”   a great song.. and I believe is THE new bouquet toss tradition!  Then came the Garter Toss,  The single guys came out to David Lee Roth’s  “Just A Gigolo”   then had the couple that caught
the items, dance together to Harry Connick Junior’s “It Had To Be You”
which by the way, almost always gets great response from the
audience!

Party music then resumed, and the floor was practically full
for the rest of the night!   playing a great variety of Party
Favorites, including The Cupid Shuffle, Cha-Cha Slide, YMCA, Chicken Dance,  Old Time Rock & Roll,  Shout,  The Macarena, plus new favorites
from  Black Eyed Peas, Soulja Boy, Gwen Stefani,  and even a Michael
Jackson Tribute by the Groomsmen, who did their “Thriller”
rendition, which was well received!

I had alot of fun interacting with your guests, and just being a part of your special night!   Thank you for having me, and many blessings for the years to come!!

6/27/2009 Klueger/Okon Wedding Reception

Sunday, 28. June 2009

Kevin & Jenny celebrated last night at the Oshkosh Convention Center next to the Park Plaza in Oshkosh.  This reception was truly one of this year’s favorites so far.  I don’t just say this for everyone, truly this was a unique event!

We worked on the planning for months with Jenny and Kevin, created a custom recording for their first dance, a montage of their childhoods and lives together, and offered a ton of creative ideas for their event.   I was pumped to be a part of their special day.

As they entered the room we did the bridal party introductions followed by their first dance before dinner, Feels Like Home with their voices mixed in.   This was cool, as it put the spotlight on them right away, and began the night off right.   During dinner, we played a wide variety of Jazz favorites including Diana Krall, Frank Sinatra, and Michael Buble.   We asked trivia questions about the bride and groom for a kiss.  (I love trivia as there are many ways it can be used, one primary way is to get guests to interact during dinner.    Once the kids finished eating, we did several games, and interactive dances to keep them occupied, while guests and adults continued with dinner.   (This is a great option if you have lots of kids at your event to occupy their time, and there is no extra charge for it.)

After dinner, guests were treated to a customized slide show photo montage on DVD, followed by one our all time favorites, “The Scavenger Hunt.”   Jenny & Kevin preselected 10 guests to participate, and each time I called out an item they had to go find it among the guests, the last one back to their seat on the dance floor was out.  This was a ton of fun, the guests loved it, and many pictures were taken for memories.

Throughout the night, we played a wide variety of music from Otis Day to Pitbull and everything in between.  Another big highlight was the kids teddy bear toss, which I highly recommend if you have several kids at the reception.   Kevin and Jenny, I wish you both the best!
