Engaging Cocktail Hour & Dinner Ideas

Engaging Cocktail & Dinner Hour Ideas

Everyone wants a fun reception, and no one wants to be bored, here are some fun cocktail hour ideas that will engage your guests in your reception. Once your wedding ceremony is done, your guests will often wait for your arrival at the cocktail hour usually in the same location as your wedding reception. It’s is super important that your guests feel welcome, and engaged in the festivities, which is why it’s important to have some fun cocktail hour ideas. I guarantee you that they will stay longer at your celebration if you engage them with some FUN cocktail hour ideas!

Here are some fun cocktail hour ideas and examples to engage your guests for a Fun Cocktail Hour at your wedding celebration:

Have a Chocolate Fountain Who doesn’t like Chocolate? Your guests will be in heaven when they sample some great fruit, and dipping items. Ready for indulgence!

Sign a Photo Matte or Art Have a framed matted picture of both of you for everyone to sign as they come into your reception. They can sign a special note or greeting to you, it gives them something to do, and you can enjoy it for years to come, or like seen in the picture above, have your guests sign something you will frame.

Have a Photobooth Invite your guests to get a little crazy with props, hats and fun individually or in groups. A Photo booth during your cocktail hour and reception is a great way for your guests to have fun, and be entertained. The best part is that you get a picture of everyone, and they get one to keep as well!

Caricature Artist Sketches Another great keepsake item for them to take home is a cartoon sketch of them being created in front of them at your celebration. They will cherish the memories forever, not to mention how different and unique it is.

Words of Wisdom Cards One of my favorites, provide note cards, pens and a receptacle. Ask guests to put their names on one side of the card, and their favorite words of wisdom on the other side for a lifetime of happiness for the bride/groom. Later on, after your wedding, you can incorporate them into a scrapbook for a lifetime of memories.

What Does Love Mean To You? Similar to the above idea, place pens and cards on tables and have guests write down what love means to them and then have them put it a box in a designated location at your celebration, you can read them following your reception and/or put them into an album, but regardless it gives guests something to do and engages them from the beginning.

Display a Looped Video Montage Sound Sensations Entertainment can create a short 10 minute video photo montage set to music of you from child hood to present day and guests can watch it on a loop at your wedding celebration during the cocktail hour, plus you’ll have a keepsake for the rest of your life that you can always cherish.

Bride/Groom Trivia Create a list of trivia questions about the two of you on a long slip of paper, then have your guests answer them during the cocktail hour while they wait for your arrival. Your DJ can announce the winners and provide prizes for some added fun and enjoyment. No one wants to be bored at your wedding celebration. The more your guests are engaged in the FUN, the longer they will stay, the more they will rave about the fun they had, and the more memorable it will be. We have a ton of additional ideas for both the cocktail hour, and your entire wedding celebration which will result in a FUN, engaging reception for everyone. I’d love to set up a time and share them with you.

Creative Photos for Table Numbers Instead of table numbers, find a photo of something you love or a favorite place, and name them with photo's. You'll find guests roaming the room looking at the different table photo's during the cocktail and dinner hours.
