Fun Ways To Have an Engaging Feature Dance

Fun Ways To Have an Engaging Feature Dance

We’ve got some fun first dance ideas for your first dance. Your Father/Daughter and/or Mother/Son Dance is special, and is one that your parents will forever remember at your wedding celebration. Do something special for them, guests love surprises. There are so many possibilities, here are a few fun spotlight dance ideas to help you get started:

Combo Dance

Couples often worry about taking too much time to complete the dances, and just want their guests to get out onto the dance floor. Cut down the time by combining both of your songs together into a custom edit with specific begin/end points for each song, or find a song that will work for both and invite both mom/dad out to dance with the bride/groom.

Ceremony/Reception First Dance

Use the same song selection for walking down the aisle with your dad as your dance with him at your reception for the Father/Daughter Dance

Rose Introduction

Present your Mother with a special rose as you walk out onto the dance floor for the special dance.

Custom Edit

Have your DJ create a custom edit of you sharing your favorite memory about your Dad, or thank him for all the years, and have the DJ record it into your father/daughter dance.

Montage Medley

Create a montage medley of songs that all have special meaning to mom, dad and/or you and dance your way through all of them. Each song clip used has significance to you. Your guests will feel engaged, and be begging you for more!

Nicole has a special relationship with her dad, Bill, and wanted to do something special- growing up she had fond memories of listening to Achy Breaky Heart and Chattahoochie over and over again, so we helped put a surprise mashup together for Nicole's Father/Daughter Dance that will never be forgotten and has such special meaning!

Photo Montage

As your feature dance with mom and/or dad is playing, and you are dancing, have your DJ show a video montage on a large screen in the background of your child hood days and growing up with your favorite visual memories of mom and/or dad. Sound Sensations Entertainment created a custom edited slide show with a special voice over with Christy sharing some of her favorite memories as a child, this was played during the father/daughter dance at their celebration! WOW!

Here's an example:

Invite Others

This is a great to engage others at your reception, especially if you don’t like to be in the spotlight for a long time. About ½ way or ¼ way through the feature dance, invite other moms and their daughters or dads and their daughters out to the dance floor with you.

Step Parent Situation

No one wants to make their dad or step dad feel ackward by dancing with only one of them, so why not split the song and dance with both, about ½ way through the song, one cuts out and the DJ welcomes the other one in. That way no one feels left out, or uncomfortable.

New Parents Dance

½ way through the combo dance, spotlight your new parents by inviting the groom’s father to dance with the bride and the bride’s mother to dance with the groom.

There are so many possibilities for fun spotlight dance ideas! Whatever you decide for your spotlight dance ideas, don’t be bland. Make a great by doing something extraordinary or unexpected, surprise your guests, you’ll love reaction and they will remember the night. All of the fun spotlight dance ideas are suppose to help engage your guests, and no matter what fun spotlight dance ideas you choose, it’s your day!
