It’s all about sample timelines you can steal, tweak, and make your own.
Sample DJ Timelines for Wisconsin Weddings
Timeline #1: Traditional Wisconsin Wedding (5:00 PM Ceremony Start)
This is an actual timeline from several weddings we've done at places like Gordon Lodge in Bailey's Harbor in Door County in 2025.
5:00 PM – Ceremony begins
- Processional music (3–5 songs max)
- Couple’s entrance song
- Ceremony runs 20–30 minutes (check out our post: How long should the ceremony last?)
- Recessional song
5:30 PM – Cocktail hour
DJ plays curated background music (live acoustic-style playlist, jazz, or your vibe).
6:30 PM – Guests seated, grand entrance
- Wedding party + couple grand entrance songs
- Transition into first dance
6:45 PM – Dinner service
Background music (acoustic covers, classic love songs, or a playlist built around your favorites).
7:30 PM – Toasts + parent dances
8:00 PM – Dance floor opens
High-energy, DJ-curated mix to get all generations moving.
9:30 pm late-night snacks
11:00 PM – Last dance + send-off
This flow works perfectly for most Wisconsin weddings with 100–250 guests.
Timeline #2: Summer Wisconsin Wedding with Early Ceremony (3:30 PM Ceremony Start)
This is an actual timeline from several weddings we've done at places like Poplar Creek in Oshkosh in 2025.
Summer weddings often have earlier ceremonies to take advantage of outdoor light. Here’s how we structure it:
3:00 PM – Pre-Ceremony Music
3:30 PM – Ceremony
4:00 PM – Cocktail hour (outdoors if weather is nice)
5:45 PM – Guests seated, grand entrance
6:00 PM – Dinner service
6:45 PM – Toasts
7:30 PM – First dance + parent dances
7:45 PM - Dance floor opens
11:55 PM - Last dance + exit
Pro tip: If you’re doing an earlier timeline, consider adding a late-night snack break to keep your guests energized.
Timeline #3: Micro Wedding or Intimate Celebration (Ceremony + Reception in One Space)
In 2025, our DJs did several Micro Weddings for much smaller groups of less than 100 guests & the timeline below worked really well, your timeline will feel more relaxed.
4:00 PM – Ceremony (same space as reception)
4:30 PM – Immediate transition into cocktail mingling
5:15 PM – Dinner (family-style or buffet)
6:00 PM – Toasts + cake cutting
6:30 PM – First dance + parent dances
7:00 PM – Open dance floor
10:00 PM – Last dance, sparkler exit
With smaller weddings, music cues and transitions are key. Your DJ keeps things flowing without awkward silences or downtime.

Tips for Making the Most of Your DJ Timeline
- Work backwards from the end. If your venue closes at 11, set your last dance for 10:45.
- Keep speeches short + sweet. 3–5 minutes max per person keeps the momentum going.
- Consider your crowd. A younger group? Open the dance floor earlier. Big family crowd? Keep traditions like bouquet/garter toss.
- Factor in photography. Talk to your photographer about golden hour shots so we can build music cues around it.
