Questions To Ask Before Booking a DJ For Your Wedding celebration

Most couples planning a Wedding Reception celebration have never had to hire a DJ before. Yes, of course you'll want to know about price and availability. Every bride has a budget. As you go through the process of finding your vendors, we've provided some great tips for hiring a DJ for your wedding celebration. Remember, the entertainment you choose will significantly impact your celebration's success! Here are some great questions to ask as you go through the process of selecting your entertainment.

1. Prompt return of your phone calls or Emails. Does the DJ you are thinking about hiring respond in a prompt manner? You should expect to get a call back or an email back within 24 hours. The only exception may be weekends when most DJs are performing. If a company can't return your phone calls or emails promptly during the initial inquiry process, how will you be able to get them to respond later during the planning phase?

2. Narrow your search down to three companies. Tip: Find a company you like that is above your price point, below your price point, and one right at your price point and set up a time to meet with them either by phone or better yet, in person. Personality is everything, especially with an event like a wedding celebration.

3. Willingness to meet with you and present his/her service. Will the DJ try to meet with you , schedule a phone call, or a video conference?

4. Do you LIKE the person that shows up?
There is NOTHING worse in the world than having to do business with someone you do not like. Choosing the person who feels right is the most important factor in picking the right entertainer for your party or reception. Do they care about your day? A great DJ/MC will take some time to really get to know YOU, and your story BEFORE sharing all about what they can do you for you on your big day!

5. What engaging & personalized ideas can they provide you to make sure your celebration is engaging, memorable and fun? A great DJ/MC should be able to provide you with several ideas and give you some inspiration about how your day will go. 6. If you book with them, how will they guarantee your guests will dance from the beginning? A great DJ/MC should be able to share with you how they will get your guests up and dancing. Listen to what they say. Does it make sense? Can they even answer this important question? It's one of the best questions you can ask, and a huge red flag if they can't answer the questions. No one wants a boring reception, or one where no one danced.

7. Does the DJ have a music list or online system that shows you what sort of music he or she has available? You need to be assured that the DJ you hire not only has a sizable collection, but has a variety of music, especially for wedding receptions, where many different styles of music and guests will be in the same room together.

8. Does the DJ use professional grade equipment? The DJ should be able to tell you what he/she uses and characterize the equipment as professional grade.

9. Will they adhere to your musical preferences and/or tastes? There's nothing more frustrating than a DJ playing everything they want, and not listening to what you want. A great DJ/MC will listen to what you want, and adhere to your "must play" songs as well as your "Do Not Playlists" In addition, they should offer to truly personalize your cocktail and dinner hours with your eccletic "musical tastes."

10. Will the DJ offer to meet with you AFTER signing the contract to plan your event? A professional DJ is ALWAYS willing to discuss your event at any time before the event starts, and should display the flexibility to accommodate changes and help you solve problems. Meeting or phone/ video conferencing your DJ to plan your event is of paramount importance to a successful event such as a wedding reception.

11. Do they have reviews that they can provide? Any reputable DJ that you are considering should have plenty of reviews that they should be able to provide. What do they say? How many reviews do they have?

12. Are they insured? Many venues all over Wisconsin require DJs to have liability insurance. You don't want to find out at the last minute before your event that an entertainment company can't do your event because they weren't insured. Make sure they have liability insurance.
