How to Create a Timeline Checklist For a Wisconsin Ceremony

There are so many tasks, to do items, and details to plan as you put together one of the biggest days of your life, how do I create a timeline checklist for a Wisconsin Ceremony? We’ve put together a checklist to help you stay focused in planning the details of your wedding ceremony. Setting up a planning outline/timeline for the ceremony music will allow you to pick the best professionals at the best price, and without rushing to get things done at the last minute.

The timeline assumes that you are planning your celebration over the course of 9-12 months, so if it’s sooner, please adjust accordingly.

9 months to 1 year:

Book Ceremony Location

Decide whether to have live or prerecorded music

Decide on the style and type of music you prefer (Do you want Jazz, Modern, or Classical?)

Start making your list of possibilities for musicians

Six to 9 months:

If you are selecting live musicians, make your final selections of musicians

Review and sign contracts

Start reviewing musical pieces to be played

3 to 4 months prior:

If the music is prerecorded, talk with your DJ to make sure they have the music on CD

Find any instrumental versions of songs needed

Make decisions on special dances, recessional, processional, and the Unity Candle

Write out the program for your DJ and guests to follow

4-6 weeks Prior:

Meet with booked musicians to go over the song selections chosen

Give them sheet music, or a CD to the musicians, or soloists to practice

1-2 weeks Prior:

Make final phone calls for confirmation of the details

Put tips/gratuities and cards in envelopes and give to the personal attendants or Best Man/MOH

Make any final payments per terms of the agreement on your contracts
